Getting booked and paid through Babysits is the easy way to handle payments. The family pays when they book, so it’s all settled before you arrive, and the money reaches your bank account within a few days. You keep 100% of your rate. No chasing, and no awkward money conversations.
Setting up payments
There are two things to set up before you can receive payments:
Step 1: Provide your details
In many countries, platforms like Babysits are required by law to collect certain details and report income earned through the platform to the tax authorities. This includes your name, address, date of birth and tax ID number.
Step 2: Add your bank details
You'll be redirected to Stripe, our payment provider, to enter your bank information.
Keeping track
You can see all your bookings and download receipts for your records, which is useful when you report your income.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Babysits does not take a commission. The booking fee is paid by the family on top of your rate, not deducted from it.
In many countries, Babysits is required by law to report income earned through the platform to the tax authorities. Your tax ID number identifies you in that report. Your details are stored securely and only shared where required by law.
Use the address in the country where you are registered to pay taxes. If you are unsure where that is, we recommend checking with your local tax authority or a financial advisor.
Stripe is our payment provider. You set up your own Stripe account, which receives your payments. When you add your bank details, you are redirected to Stripe, so your financial information is never stored on Babysits.
When families book you through Babysits, they pay when they book, and you receive your full rate after the booking. No need to ask for payment or handle cash. Our support team is happy to help with any questions.
Your payment is usually sent 24 hours after the booking ends and arrives in your bank account within 3–8 days. If a family has requested a refund, the payment is sent as soon as you reply to the request, and after 7 days at the latest. You’ll receive an email with the estimated transfer date, and you can also check the payment on the bookings page.
Yes. Being under 18 doesn't stop you from being booked and paid through Babysits. Our payment provider Stripe does require a parent or legal guardian to sign off before you can get paid through Babysits. In the United States you complete the setup yourself and Stripe asks for their details along the way. Everywhere else, your parent or guardian needs to fill in the form: we explain this before you start.
In most countries, income from babysitting has to be reported to the tax authorities, even if you don’t end up owing anything. Depending on local rules, the family may also need to register you for social insurance. Babysits does not handle taxes or social insurance for you, so check what applies where you live.
No. Sharing your tax details doesn’t change your earnings. Babysits does not deduct taxes or anything else from your rate.
Your personal details are encrypted and stored securely. We only share your information with our payment provider Stripe and with tax authorities where required by law, and we never sell your data.
